Learning With Us

Years 7 to 12

Secondary School at LCS offers a time of consolidation and preparation for life outside of school by providing smaller classes and an impressive range of courses.

Our aim in the Secondary School is to produce young people who are equipped for life, work, and service. We hope to build competence, resilience and a Christ-focused vision. While receiving a high-quality education from experienced and supportive teachers, our Secondary School students are also able to participate in sports, social activities, camps, and recreation days.

Bonnie 2024

Meet our Head of Secondary: Bonnie Armstrong

Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”

– Philippians 4:6-7

My name is Bonnie Armstrong and I am the Head of Secondary at Launceston Christian School. I’ve been teaching for 18 years and I am passionate about Christian education.

I’m married with six stepchildren and two fur babies.  I am creative, bubbly and determined.  Some of my favourite things include sunshine, chai lattes, quality time with friends, watching movies, eating out, jigsaw puzzles and travel.  My favourite quote is 'comparison is the thief of joy'.

I strive to be a leader who is encouraging, present and relatable – someone who develops positive and meaningful relationships with staff, students and parents.  I value good communication and love working as part of a team.

LCS provides a wide range of subjects for Secondary School students

At LCS, we want students to value learning and to focus on making progress rather than seeking perfection. Students are encouraged to do their best and to continually seek growth and improvement.

We endeavour to create an environment where all students feel valued, respected and have a sense of belonging. A strong emphasis is placed on developing positive relationships with both teachers and peers. LCS also has a Life Skills program for students who need a modified curriculum that focuses on skills needed for independence and employment.

In Years 7 and 8 students experience a wide range of subjects. In Years 9 and 10 students are able to choose from a selection of subjects that they want to pursue.

Some of the option subjects include Design Graphics, Drama, Design Technology, Math Methods, Music, Advanced Science, Legal Studies, Computing and Visual Art.

LCS also runs an important mentoring and personal development program with all Year 9 students called The Rite Journey. More information about this can be found by clicking on the link provided.

Year 10 at LCS

As students move into the upper years of Secondary School at LCS, we endeavour to equip them with skills, knowledge, and study habits, that will enable them to thrive in their final years at LCS.

Year 10 is a pivotal year for our students, as they consider their future, and what university or job opportunities they would like to pursue.

A highlight and tradition for our Year 10 students is the Maria Island camp week. During this camp, students enjoy a variety of activities such as hiking, snorkelling and bike riding around the beautiful and remote location.

Years 11 & 12 can be some of the best years of your life. It is an opportunity to learn and grow in subject areas that you are passionate about as you work towards your lives beyond school.

At LCS we place a strong emphasis on our Pastoral Care time where we aim to ensure that our students are well grounded in biblical principles and can leave our school confident in their faith and with the tools to share their faith.
