Our Year 7 Science have begun a unit this term on Classification.
They have been learning about how we classify living things in the world around us into different kingdoms, eg. Animal Kingdom, Plant Kingdom, Fungi Kingdom, etc. Mrs Lawes, our Laboratory Manager, taught the three classes how to classify plants using a botanical key, with many cuttings from her garden. The students then took up the challenge to go into the school grounds to find samples of a non-vascular plant, gymnosperm, monocot and dicot for themselves using the key.
They did a great job!
