In Year 7 and 8 the emphasis is on consolidation in the areas of Literacy and Numeracy while giving students a broad curriculum experience across learning areas. Subjects include Bible Study, Drama, Health, Music, Science, Visual Art, English, Maths, Design Technology and PE.

In Year 9 students study 8 compulsory subjects and 3 optional subjects. Optional subjects include Computing, Design Graphics, Design Technology, Drama, Geography, Math Methods, Music, Advanced Science, Visual Art and Indonesian.

Students also take part in an exciting mentoring and personal development program called The Rite Journey.

Participation in sport is encouraged, not only through weekly PE lessons but also in school carnivals and interschool sport.

The school has three sport houses or teams. They are Barrow (Red), Tamar (Gold) and Melaleuca (Green) - a mountain, river and tree species which form part of the school's natural surroundings. Students are randomly selected upon enrolment or allocated by family name to these houses.

CARNIVALS

LCS holds 3 carnivals throughout the year and the Middle School and Senior School have a separate carnival to Junior School.

  • Swimming (early in the year)
  • Athletics (early in the year)
  • Cross Country (middle of the year)
  • NHSSA & NSATIS Carnivals (Interschool)

LIFE SKILLS

Life Skills is a special program that runs two days a week for students in Year 7 to 10.

This program caters for students that have a disability and need a modified curriculum which focuses on skills needed for independence and employment.

Life Skills focuses on functional numeracy & literacy that is used in every day life as well as daily skills needed in the home or for work.

A small unit on the school grounds is used and has been set up to replicate a real home environment as well as a class room.

Students attend this program for two days then join the normal school curriculum for the rest of the school week.
